1. Information We Collect

When you create an account or use TradeCompass, we collect the following information:

  • Account information — your email address and hashed password when you register.
  • Usage data — the stock tickers you analyse, the reports you generate, and timestamps of your activity.
  • Payment data — payment transactions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number or payment details; we only receive a transaction confirmation and the associated credit update.
  • Referral and promo data — referral codes used at signup and promo codes entered, used to apply credit bonuses.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically for security and rate-limiting purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Generate technical analysis reports based on your requests
  • Process payments and manage your credit balance
  • Send transactional emails (email verification, password reset)
  • Enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
  • Improve the accuracy and features of the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

3. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your personal data will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

Report data (stock tickers, analysis outputs) may be retained in anonymised form for service improvement after account deletion.

4. Third-Party Services

TradeCompass uses the following third-party services:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Your payment information is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Email provider — we use a transactional email service to send verification and notification emails.
  • AI/LLM provider — report generation uses a third-party language model API. Ticker symbols and market data are sent to generate analysis text; no personally identifiable information is included in these requests.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

TradeCompass uses browser localStorage to store your authentication token so you stay signed in across sessions. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your account and personal data.
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format where technically feasible.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including hashed password storage, HTTPS-only access, and server-side authentication token validation. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or by a notice on the platform. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
